Ben has had over twelve years experience in the New Zealand and Australian film industries as a
creature and make-up effects artist. After completing a production crafts course at
Sydney based- National Institute of Dramatic Art, Ben worked freelance as a
props-maker, puppet-maker, puppeteer and sculptor in Sydney for two years,
before joining Effects Workshop Studio Kite at 20th Century Fox
Studios-Sydney.
Ben moved to New Zealand to work on-set as a prosthetic make-up artist on
THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy in 1999. During his time at Weta,
Ben has been a lead sculptor and has worked as a development writer for new Weta projects including JANE AND THE DRAGON and is currently writing a Feature film script for a large Hollywood studio. Ben bravely decided to attempt a full length, self funded feature, having no previous directing experience beyond personal short film and music video
projects. The driving force behind this decision is Ben’s sizable passion for the medium of narrative
features.
